Premium Dentures in the Milwaukee Area: Brookfield Dental Care

The dentures available today for the Brookfield and Milwaukee area patients treated by Dr. Ralph Pamenter at Brookfield Dental Care are far advanced from the clunky and uncomfortable dentures of the past. Advances in denture technology now provide supremely comfortable and natural-looking replacements for missing teeth. Today’s dentures are customized to fit the gender, facial features, and overall appearance of the patient, leading to greatly increased confidence for denture wearers.

If you’ve lost many or all of your natural teeth due to injury, disease, or tooth decay, complete or partial dentures can replace those teeth and make your smile complete. Having missing teeth replaced will benefit not only your smile; it will improve your health. This is because without support from the teeth or dentures, eating and speaking are challenged, and the facial muscles over the missing teeth can start to sag, giving the face an older appearance. With dentures that fit properly, the face is supported, and the movements necessary for eating and speaking are easier. Such dentures from Brookfield Dental Care have helped hundreds of Milwaukee area patients smile freely again, with the knowledge that their dental health has been restored.

Depending on the number of teeth to be replaced, Dr. Pamenter will recommend partial dentures or full dentures, and depending on the patient's preference and Dr. Pamenter's recommendation, the patient can have the dentures fabricated as either conventional or immediate dentures.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures replace all or most of your teeth. A few teeth may be left in the mouth to give stability to the dentures. If you're concerned about having many teeth removed at one time, or if you're apprehensive about having any kind of dental work done, you can relax with the knowledge that Dr. Pamenter offers sedation dentistry for patients who are apprehensive about having dental work performed.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures, or "partials," are used to bridge the gap created by one missing tooth or a small number of missing teeth. A partial denture acts as a spacer, and it keeps the remaining teeth from shifting.

Conventional Dentures

After the removal of most or all of the teeth, a healing period (about one to three months) is necessary before the dentures (whether complete or partial) are fit and placed into the mouth. Many of our patients in the Milwaukee metropolitan area choose conventional dentures.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are fit into the mouth immediately after the appropriate teeth are removed. At an office visit prior to this placement, the necessary measurements and a model of your teeth are made, so that the dentures are ready to be fit immediately after the teeth are removed. With immediate dentures, you don't have to spend any time without teeth. However, the gums and bones of the jaws may shrink somewhat as they heal after the placement of the dentures; thus, several adjustments of the dentures may be necessary. Immediate dentures may also be used as a temporary solution until conventional dentures are placed.

Denture Care

Whether you receive complete or partial dentures, and whether the dentures are conventional or immediate, you need to take good care of your dentures and your mouth. Brushing your palate, gums, and tongue every morning before you insert your dentures will stimulate the circulation in your tissues and help remove any plaque. Dr. Pamenter and his staff will also instruct you regarding the proper care of your new dentures. Our Brookfield and Milwaukee area patients with dentures have all adjusted well to their dentures and are glad to have a complete set of teeth again.

Are Dentures the Only Alternative for Missing Teeth?

Another cosmetic dentistry alternative for missing teeth is dental implants. Implants and crowns are exceptionally stable, natural-looking permanent tooth replacements that provide outstanding functional and aesthetic results. Dental implants can be a preferable option for replacing missing teeth, but not every patient is a candidate for implants. Dr. Pamenter can advise you about the most appropriate options for your particular dental problem and oral health. To learn more about all of your alternatives for achieving a healthy smile, including dental implants and dentures, please contact Brookfield Dental Care to schedule an appointment with Dr. Pamenter.
